Uber driving can be quite a lucrative job if you are good at it. However, it can also be a dangerous career when you are constantly dealing with strangers who, quite often, are under the influence of some substance. For one Uber driver, his interaction with a man ended in his death.
The driver, a 68-year-old man, was sitting in his car waiting to pick up some passengers when a guy in his 30’s began engaging in an altercation with him. Randolph Tolk, the driver, allegedly remained in his car and argued with the man, Kohji Kosugi, through the driver’s side window. When Kosugi began hitting Tolk’s car with a hockey stick, he got out of the vehicle and confronted the man.
Kosugi began to unleash a barrage of blows with the hockey stick aimed at the older man’s head. Eventually, Tolk fell to the ground, but Kosugi continued to pummel him with the stick. After a few more hits, Kosugi eventually walked away from the elderly man and carried on with his night.
Tolk was able to regain his balance and made his way back to his car. He drove off and made it a few miles down the road where he crashed. He was taken to a nearby hospital and pronounced dead shortly after. A witness who saw the who altercation described it as a brutal and unwarranted attack that most definitely caused Tolk severe physical harm.
Tolk’s family has spoken out about the loss of their beloved family member and stated that they are in shock. They described Randolph Tolk as a loving and caring man who did not deserve to die in such a horrific way. They condemn Kosugi and his actions and state that they hope to see him punished to the fullest extent for the unthinkable actions he carried out on the innocent driver.
