“Hi world, my name is Lara and I write a lot about my vagina. There’s a reason for it though, and it’s because I have certain conditions that do not allow me to experience penetration without extreme, mind-boggling pain.”
Lara has been diagnosed with endometriosis, vulvodynia, and vaginismus. You’ve never heard of that before? Well, we’ll explain some things for you.
Endometriosis causes pelvic pain, often when you’re on your period and also, infertility. Pain during sex is also common.
Vulvodynia is causing chronic vulvar pain with no known cause. And, vaginismus is a condition which enables woman to have sex, manual penetration, using tampons and menstrual cups.
“The conditions also give me chronic pain which sucks because it means that I have to spend a lot of time lying in bed with a heating pad and icing my burning vagina. FUN.”
So, she is always in pain and there is no cure for her diagnosis.
“A couple of years ago when I decided to finally try to start dating, it pretty much sucked. I’m a straight woman and it’s not exactly easy to explain to dudes that you may *never* be able to have sex with them. Great ice-breaker!!”
A lot of more women is dealing with the same problem, but there is not any cure for now.
Lara says that it is hard to go out with her friends and guys when she always only listens to them talking about their relationship problems or sexual crisis in their relationships.
“It took me a long time to realize that everyone has baggage — not just me — and that, honestly, when you find the right person, it doesn’t really matter. I know, I sound like an inspirational quote on Instagram. But it’s TRUE.”
Currently there is a lot of women dealing with the same problem, but what they should remember is that everyone deserves love and care.
Lara is not shamed to talk about her problem, but a lot of women keep quiet about it.
