David Cassidy, best known for his role on the 70s television show The Partridge Family has died at the age of 67 from apparent organ failure. He was surrounded by loved ones when he passed away.
Cassidy began working in the entertainment industry as a child. He scored the role that made him a household name when he was a teenager and quickly became one of Hollywood’s teen heartthrobs. His role on The Partridge Family not only resulted in him becoming a well-known actor, but also a singer.
He toured the world with his fellow cast members and bathed in the adoration of teenage girls from all walks of life. After he decided to leave the television show, he managed to have minimal success as a musician over the decades, but never really reached the height of fame he achieved as a teen.
He dabbled in music, TV and stage for the rest of his life, but had to slow down during the last few years of his life due to a diagnosis of dementia. He also revealed that he had long suffered with alcohol abuse and as a result was arrested several times for driving while intoxicated.
In mid-November, it was revealed that Cassidy was rushed to the hospital due to organ failure and that he was in dire need of a liver transplant. Cassidy was placed in a coma while his family gathered at his bedside. Unfortunately, doctors could not work their magic in time and he passed away just a few days after being admitted to hospital. He was surrounded by all his loved ones at the time, including his estranged daughter.
An outpouring of love and nostalgia from Cassidy’s celebrity friends began on social media just moments after the news about his death broke. Many of them described him as a kind and talented man who left a vital mark on the world of entertainment.
