You could be seeing Oprah Winfrey running for president against Donald Trump in 2020, according to The New York Post. The past couple of years have been just bizarre. Nowadays people open up their morning newspaper expecting almost anything: a billionaire with a hairdo who we saw briefly in Home Alone 2 becomes the leader of the free world, a nuclear war with the east, anything.
This time we’re looking at you twitter. After The New York Post wrote an article urging Oprah Winfrey to run for president on 2020, Oprah made a tweet thanking the writer of said article and ending it with the vague “see you in 2020”, which has since turned a few heads.
Speculations rose and people actually believed for some time that Oprah might actually run for president, and magazines tried to get a statement or a direct quote from Winfrey confirming the rumor.
This was, however, quickly debunked by Winfrey’s publicist, who said that Oprah was merely thanking the reporter, she wasn’t actually going to run for president in 2020. This hasn’t stopped people talking about how Winfrey would be a good fit for presidency, some still saying that she could be running for office in 2020, just not ready for an official announcement just yet. Oprah has been a supporter and top contributor to Barack Obama’s campaign, so people are still hoping for that gleam of hope.
We can’t help but think Oprah would be a good fit for this country, when Oprah speak, millions listen, she is a real influence and has been for the past three decades, and even though she’s repeatedly said that she doesn’t consider herself political, her endorsement to Obama’s campaign has maybe sparked some new interest in the world of politics.
