In one of the most surprising court rulings ever, Michael Adkins has avoided being sent to prison for allegedly having sex with his 11-year-old relative, which resulted in the young girl becoming pregnant. Instead of years behind bars, he was given a sentence of probation and ordered to register as a sex offender. He also will have his behavior monitored for the next 50 years.
According to documents, the young girl was forced by Adkins to undergo an abortion when he found out she was pregnant with his child. It is not known exactly how the victim is related to Adkins, but they are definitely related by blood.
Another relative of Adkins and the victim told the judge that the young girl is still dealing with the aftermath of the situation and that she most likely will suffer from trauma due to it for the rest of her life. Knowing that Adkins is not going to spend the rest of his life in jail is making her fear even more for her safety.
The judge who failed to pass down a jail sentence to Adkins was clearly upset about the decision he had to make. At the sentence hearing, he told Adkins that he hopes the man violates his probation or breaks one of the rules set in place just so he can then send him to jail.
The judge made it very clear that he wants to see Adkins be thrown behind bars, so he will be watched very closely and any slip up will result him being put in prison. Adkins’ lawyer informed the judge that his client will do everything in his power to follow all orders given to him and that he will stay far away from the victim, and all other children, for the rest of his life.
