44-year-old Shane Anderson, and Oklahoma middle school educator, was killed while defending his family during a home break-in. The geography teacher was shot in front of his two daughters and his wife.
Janet Dunlop the superintendent for the school district where Anderson worked expressed her sorrow upon hearing of his passing by saying that she is deeply saddened to learn of such a horrific passing. She also shared that the entire community is thinking of his family and they are all willing to help them with whatever they need during such a trying time.
Authorities arrested Deonte Green, 16, in connection with the murder and home invasion. Police believe that Green was on a crime spree at the time of the killing.
He has also been accused of holding an elderly husband and wife hostage at gunpoint only half an hour before breaking into the Anderson’s residence. In the hostage situation, Green reportedly forced the pair to take a large sum of money out of their bank account. Then, he proceeded to rape the elderly woman.
During the home invasion, Shane Anderson allegedly charged at the teen and tried to take him down so that his wife could call the police while he restrained him. Deonte Green fired his weapon at Anderson and then ran from the house.
Dave Walker, a sergeant with the Tulsa Police, shared that Shane Anderson had tussled with Green before Green shot him. Even after being hit, Anderson still attempted to fight Green off until he collapsed on the ground.
Several hours after Deonte Green shot and killed Shane Anderson, he went back out into the community and reportedly held up another couple. He has since been arrested and brought up on charges of assault, robbery and murder.
