Freddy Whitehall is a music fanatic. So much so that he has a room in his house solely dedicated to music memorabilia that he has picked up at auctions throughout the years. In this room, Whitehall has a pair of Elvis’ blue suede shoes, one of Frank Sinatra’s fedora hats and, now, one of Jimi Hendrix’s guitars.
Whitehall heard about the guitar going up for sale at an auction and new that he had to be the one to take it home. He travelled all the way from Colorado Springs to Los Angeles to attend the auction, and purchased the guitar for a staggering $28,000.
Whitehall claimed that selling his car, along with some of his wife’s most expensive jewelry to be able to afford this iconic piece of music history was worth it.
Once Whitehall had the guitar back in his house, he had a special place already picked out in his memorabilia room for it. It fit in perfectly with the rest of his collection, but as the days passed it was obvious that there was something a little different about this item.
Whitehall and his wife allege that every night since they brought the guitar into their house, they wake up at the exact same time to the sound of someone playing it. Not just strumming it, but playing full chords and riffs that can be found in some of Jimi Hendrix’s greatest hits.
Initially, they believed someone had broken into their house and was playing a joke on them, but there has never been anyone found lurking about.
Freddy Whitehall is convinced that it is the spirit of Jimi Hendrix, himself, playing the guitar in the early morning hours. Whitehall believes that Hendrix is still attached to this lovely instrument and that he wants to make sure that he maintains his playing skills, even from the other side.
Whitehall and his wife say they have no complaints about the free concerts they get to hear every night, and they can only hope that the next piece of musical memorabilia they purchase comes with its owner, as well.
