Jessica Langford, a teacher at Miamisburg Middle School, is accused of having sexual relations with one of her male students. According to reports all the instances of sexual intercourse took place on the school’s campus, either during school hours or after everyone else went home for the day.
The victim reportedly told another teacher at the school about his inappropriate relationship with Langford. That teacher then went to the administration with the information and an internal investigation was launched into the accusations. Langford left her position at the school as soon as she heard about the allegations swirling around the halls.
After the school completed their investigation, police got involved and arrested Langford on several counts of sexual abuse of a minor. She has reportedly stated that she is innocent of all charges. She is currently awaiting trial and if convicted could be sentenced to several years behind bars, as well as losing her teaching license and being forced to register as a sex offender.
Surprisingly, this is not the first time that Miamisburg Middle School has been in the news for inappropriate teacher and student relationships. Earlier in the year, a substitute teacher was accused of having sex with two students who attended the school.
Officials at the school state that they are astounded that people who are supposed to teach and protect students can take advantage of them in such deplorable ways.
The rise in teachers having sexual relations with their students has increased dramatically over the last few years. Previously, male teachers were at the forefront of the issue, but now with the rise of social media and technology, female teachers are right up there with the males when it comes to seducing and engaging with underage students.
Hopefully, schools will start cracking down on the issue and implement more regulations that will stop such instances from taking place.
