Two daycare workers, Lizandra Cosme and Susana Gonzalez, have been arrested after surveillance cameras in the daycare center where they worked caught them abusing some of the kids they were meant to be taking care of. According to reports, Cosme can be seen using a hot glue gun to burn five young children, while Gonzalez stands off to the side laughing.
Parents notified the daycare center when they discovered marks on their children’s hands and arms. When administrators at the center reviewed security footage, the witnessed the shocking act.
In the video, Cosme can be seen grabbing the young children by the arms and them placing the hot glue gun on their skin. The kids are visibly in pain from this action. Gonzalez stands beside Cosme and laughs while the children are enduring scalding glue being put on their skin.
The daycare center has released a statement saying that the two women were immediately fired when the surveillance footage was reviewed. They also stated that they are cooperating with the police and providing them with any information and evidence they need. They shared that the daycare’s main priority is always the safety and wellbeing of its children.
Because Cosme is the one who administered the hot glue gun on the kids’ skin, she is looking at a harsher punishment than Gonzalez. Cosme has been charged with multiple counts of assault, while Gonzalez has been charged with several counts of enabling child abuse.
Cosme’s defense team has stated that the hot glue gun was brought to the daycare center to be used when making Christmas crafts with the children. They share that Cosme had no intention of bringing the gun to hurt the children and that she was under a lot of stress on the day the incident took place because she was looking after almost twenty little ones.
They state that Cosme is not a bad person and would never intentionally bring harm to anyone, let alone the kids she takes care of on a regular basis.
