Juan Luis Lagunas Rosales was born in the Mexican state of Sinaloa, a target for drug cartels and a land of the famous Joakim El Chapo Guzman.
Lagunas never met his father. His mother left him with his grandmother when he was a child.
When he was 15 years old, he left his hometown without finishing high school and went to the municipality of Culiacan, where he earned a living by car washing. In this city, he will receive a nickname that will later become known to the cyberspace as: “El Pirata de Culiacan” or “Palliat from Culiacan”.
He started setting footage of him being drunk, and at 17 years he already had more than a million fans on Facebook and more than 300,000 on Instagram.
He grew a beard to look older and tattooed his hands. In Mexico, alcohol is forbidden to the minors, but he drowned as if there was no tomorrow.
In one video, he offended the drug boss Nemesis Ochegger Cervantes, also known as El Mencho’s nickname.
A few days later, while Lagunas was in the bar, a group of people boarded and shot him. It is estimated that he had more than 18 wounds.
The El Mencho Cartel, the New Generation, is relatively new, and it was created by joining of a dozen smaller ones. He earns money from the sale of weapons, gas theft, extortion, kidnapping and, of course, drug trafficking. He is one of the fastest growing cartels in Mexico, working in several Mexican states.
The group is associated with thousands of murders. Many of them are attributed directly to the leader of the cartel. That gives a sure sign to people not to mess with him.
