A science teacher from Florida has been arrested after it was discovered that she has been having an inappropriate relationship with a minor. Robin Dunlap has been charged with sending illicit images to a person under the age of 18, as well as several other charges.
Allegedly, Dunlap and the teenage boy connected while playing on Xbox One. Dunlap claims that the boy’s profile said he was 19-years-old, so she messaged him, and they began talking. Eventually, their communication moved from the gaming console to their cell phones. Dunlap reportedly sent the teen numerous naked photos of herself, as well as many explicit messages.
The boy’s mother discovered the messages on his phone and informed Dunlap that they boy she was talking to was 15-years-old. She urged Dunlap to stop reaching out to her son, or she would call the police. Ultimately, the boy’s mother decided that letting authorities know about the inappropriate relationship was the right thing to do.
Robin Dunlap confessed to police that she did send the explicit images and messages to the boy, but only because she thought he was of age. However, police were able to see that the messages continued, and got even more inappropriate, after Dunlap was made aware of the teen’s real age.
Eventually, she revealed to police that she did not stop communicating with the boy because she felt like he was the only person to see her for who she truly is and that they share a strong connection unlike anything she has ever experienced before.
Police didn’t buy Dunlap’s soppy excuse and charged her with soliciting a minor. She is currently awaiting a trial and if found guilty could spend several years in jail be forced to register as a sex offender.
The victim’s mother has come forward to urge all parents to make sure they are observant and diligent when it comes to who their kids are talking to online.
