The always stunning and always beautiful and always talented Rihanna silenced everyone when she appeared at the Met Gala, although there were also many who did not react in a similar way and aired their frustrations to social media.
To put it bluntly, Rihanna has fallen into the middle of a controversy, as she dared to wear a super dress with a Catholic touch at the Met Gala. The headdress was based on a miter, similar to the one used by popes, bishops and cardinals of the Catholic, Lutheran, Orthodox and even Anglican Churches.
The annual fundraising gala, as always, brought together all the most important celebrities of the moment, many of them capturing the glances and flashes of all the photographers and paparazzi, but none of them did it like Rihanna did. However, the images became viral and this caused Christians of various religious denominations to react angrily against Rihanna.
Rihanna inflamed the controversy as many Christians of different religious confessions say is that she disrespected the name of God. The Met Gala had the slogan that night was allusive to fashion within the Church, “Celestial Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination”. Rihanna just dressed as she should, and she showed off looking like a fashionable pope from other times.
A hashtag that went viral during the gala and which is likely to happen in the days to come is, #MyReligionIsNotYourCostume many Christians of various religious denominations used it to express their dissatisfaction with the disrespect they had had for religion. Many have even called the event and Rihanna’s attire blasphemous as well.
The amazing thing is that there were other celebrities at the Met Gala wearing religious attire as well such as Katy Perry, Kim Kardashian, and Cara Delevingne, among others, who did not cause any hatred towards them than the one Rihanna received.
